Our skills include both front-end and back-end development, and our projects range from building and/or supporting WordPress websites to full-scale app development. Similarly, our clients range from solopreneurs and small businesses to international companies with thousands of employees.
Job Description
We are currently looking to add a mid-level back-end web developer to join our team. We need an individual who is self-motivated and disciplined and who thrives in a work-from-home environment, while also staying connected to and collaborating with an online team.
The ideal candidate is comfortable with a wide variety of workâsupporting and troubleshooting WordPress websites (ranging from basic sites that use pre-built themes and page builders such as Divi/Elementor/Beaver Builder to sites that are fully custom, relying on hand-written themes and plugins), occasionally supporting other CMS platforms (ExpressionEngine, Craft, etc.), as well as contributing as-needed to larger custom development projects built using PHP/MySQL.
Of equal importance, our team puts a very strong emphasis on stellar client relations, including fast response times and clear, concise written and verbal communication. We strive to put our clients first and go the extra mile, and we are looking for candidates who will do the same.
Job Responsibilities
- Support WordPress websites
- Complete on-going tasks for existing website clients (most often in WordPress)
- Build and support custom WordPress plugins, with a particular emphasis on extending existing plugins such as WooCommerce, LearnDash LMS, and Gravity Forms
- Contribute as-needed to larger custom PHP/MySQL development projects
- Handle incoming client support requests by email, chat, and (less often) phone
Required Skills
- Support and troubleshooting, and the ability to quickly identify and solve problems for clients
- Experience leveraging, adapting, and supporting pre-built WordPress themes and plugins
- Custom WordPress plugin development
- Third-party API Integrations
- In-depth experience using (and extending) WooCommerce
- In-depth experience using (and extending) Gravity Forms
- Linux command-line tools including WP-CLI
- Custom PHP/MySQL Development
- jQuery/Javascript
- Git
- Debugging issues by analyzing debug, error, and access logs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to quickly learn new skills and techniques
- Competence working independently, while also being flexible, willing to learn, and a good team player
Desired Skills (some experience preferred, but must be willing to learn)
- Specific WordPress plugin experience with LearnDash and WPML
- Experience with Nginx and WP Rocket
- DNS Management
- Experience with Web Application Firewalls (WAFs such as Sucuri)
- Website performance analysis and optimization
- Specific WordPress theme/builder experience with Divi, Avada, Elementor, and/or Beaver Builder
- Writing/compiling SCSS
- ADA and WCAG Compliance
